Doug Ford needs to review the massive flooding in the Fraser Valley of BC in 2021 and 2025...Attempting to change a lake is not very smart....

Danielle Smith needs to go! As does Doug Ford 🤬

It's one joke after another in Ford's Ontario. It would be funny if it weren't so infuriating!

Danielle Searancke's avatar

Danielle Smith has falsely claimed to be metis and Cherokee. She’s the only pretendian I’ve seen not suffer any consequences..

Lee's avatar

I wouldn’t trust Smith if on a Tuesday she said it was Tuesday. I would check my phone. Her ‘word’, her promises, her entire being are as hollow as a dead tree.

Honestly the more shit that I read about the less I want to live in Canada anymore, let alone Alberta. Kind of seems like no province is better. Wtf is up with all these garbage conservative governments everywhere??

Ken Smith's avatar

Don't give up. We got rid of the Cons, and elected Wab Kinew, our amazing NDP Premier.

All citizens must get and stay involved in politics from now on.

It's the garbage that needs to hit the curb. And yes, it sure feels discouraging at present. That so few are able to make life so miserable for the rest of us.

Filling in Lake Ontario? It’s not April 1, but this has got to be a joke!

Ken Smith's avatar

Sarah, I'm fairly new to substack, and somehow stopped seeing my likes and comments. Tried the help steps with no difference. Could you share any clues? Thanks.

Thank you for the work you do!

Doug Ford likes these big ridiculous projects that would benefit his developer pals if they were actually implemented.

I’m going to need a warning system on your articles. A little something to forewarn of all the craziness. The call is coming from inside the house.

The premises behind all of them is horrifyingly immoral in my opinion, and unCanadian to say the least. That may sound quaint, but Canadian ideals were hard fought for, people died fighting for them, and will again.

We were called by the PM to stick together and buckle up, and THIS is what these clowns are doing? While the rest of us are clipping coupons and buying Canadian? All of these other clowns are just evil. Sounds like someone else’s playbook? Give your head a shake.

Please, I know there are lots of normal Canadians, don’t ignore this. The sooner we shut it down the clowns the easier disaster might be avoided.

And Cole, I’m serious about a warning so I can brace!

It’s provincial responsibility why are you blaming Carney for Pete sakes

Bill's avatar

If you read carefully, she did not blame Carney for anything. She is saying the Prime Minister has called on Canadians to stand united against the economic and other tensions we face. The comment made, is simply saying, the majority of Canadians citizens and residents are doing that, boycotting American goods, tightening the belt but the largely Conservative Provincial government while claiming to be on Team Canada are working locally to reduce the social safety net that has been a basis of Canadian life for at least a century. It blames the provinces not the Prime MInister.

Alexis 🇨🇦's avatar

I do believe it’s past time for an “elder statesman or woman” to pull all the Premiers together and ask them one question…”Do you believe that Canada should stay the way it is or should we toss all those things that we ALL agree are truly Canadian and become instead a carbon copy of the USA? Should we toss out every social service, remove all our human rights acts, make health and education a for profit industry and leave the old, the sick, the young and the impaired to,simply fend for themselves or die?”

And that should be done on nation wide TV so that EVERYONE can see and hear the actual differences between conservative and liberal types of governance.

Cutting programs that support seniors with dementia will result in flooding emergency rooms with these seniors, who will be deteriorating in health status without proper support. As if hospitals were not already overloaded…

Cole - thank you for this. Your posts are always insightful. I live in Nova Scotia. Tim Huston will face a huge backlash over this. Contacting my MLA and the Premier’s office is top of my list. He has been acting like an autocrat for too long. I saw that long before he was elected.

Sarah Olson's avatar

I’m not sure Ken, mine come through my emails. If you go to your substack page there should be a section with the comments you have gotten. Is this section not showing up for you?

Ken Smith's avatar

Thanks Sarah, I did find the comments in my substack this morning, but somehow the email notifications of likes and comments are not showing in my outlook.

Great, perhaps they moved to junk.🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you Cole for this Canadian news. It’s good to be informed about the good and the bad.

I think any woman accessing public assistance for daycare is fine provided she is gainfully employed outside the home. No exception !!!!! If we work and pay taxes that help then they should have jobs in order to get that assistance!

Berndette Novak's avatar

Seriously you are that uninformed on how ridiculous things are for single mothers. How dare you throw your entitlement around

Lee's avatar

Entitlement has nothing to do with it. If you have a job and need daycare then I agree with giving you assistance. If you are at home then why do you need daycare?

Berndette Novak's avatar

Oh for Pete sakes stooge are you that uninformed 🥴

Lee's avatar

Why don’t you inform me why a stay at home mom needs daycare!!!

Dianna Rankin's avatar

For a hot second I thought you lived in the United States. So sorry to hear that Canada has the wimpy white male syndrome also. You know, blame women for all the problems in your life. Having issues getting into a relationship? Dude, read the room.

Lee's avatar

Actually I am female and a mother.

Bill's avatar

"wimpy, white male syndrome" sounds particularly sexist. And I thought you were accusing the wimpy white male syndrome person of making a sexist remark. A ConBot is a ConBot regardless of genitalia.

Berndette Novak's avatar

Lee I should have guessed you are a troll

Ken Smith's avatar

Disgusting attitude for a Canadian.

Lee's avatar

Why? I am happy to help families with daycare needs but if one parent is at home and not working outside the home then I don’t see a need for daycare.

A gentle criticism here. Honestly, i like your work enough that I'm a paid subscriber and very grateful for all that you offer. You do a great job! But there was a line in today's post that I see all the time and it always rubs me the wrong way.

"Going after the most vulnerable members of society is not who we are as Canadians."

It IS who we are! That's the problem! I'm 62, born and raised in Canada. Lived my whole life here. For most of my adult life i have recognized that this is not a compassionate society. We have rampant inequality, racism, police corruption and violence, etc etc. Lots of us are here (including you) pushing back and I love that but let's not pretend that we are something we are not. We have a long road ahead of us with no guarantees we will arrive 😢💪🏻

Thanks Cole; certainly lots of political headline-grabbing nonsense. What Smith fails to grasp in the MOU is her responsibilities for doing the work with Aboriginal communities, environmental issues etc. When this work is done and Smith has secured agreement from these folks, THEN the federal government will support the new pipeline. However, that amount of work from a separatist government is highly unlikely - but she swill find a way to blame Ottawa.
